19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized the Russian player won his maiden championship for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid season, managing just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the US Open.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in especial - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.

Currently training with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents his first title after the Rome competition and first on a hard surface since that period of 2023.

Success also indicates he has achieved 21 victories at 21 various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my children at once, so to get a title is particularly special," said tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had led commentators to question if his capacity to play at the highest level was over.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and play positively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his initial ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

The opponent defended 4 early-game break points in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent unable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
